Disappearance

Unfinished still life– Disappearing Self 2
Watercolour on Arches  copyright Veronica Aldous

Disappearance
The eggshell floats on the water, leaves no trace
But a dented meniscus, an inbreath
Caesura.
She knows how to stop
But she cannot; for the limbic worm
Tells her that rushing stream’s utterance
Is powerful enough to crush her skull
The inner space, a paralysed eye
Innocent in its pale shackles.
