Star Eiderdown

Star Eiderdown

Black and soft and sewn with nebulae
To hide under such fluid rendering
Sleep peace, sleep imagining peace –
No sharply shocking beats of pulsar
Here is only an archipelago and lakes
Cooling the ancient body-memories

How is sleep?
It is patient and wounded
It is a hidden god with ebon eyes
Transforming days into muddles
Of lost coins and extreme cats
Congress with unusual beings
It unravels and reassembles
Little life-tickles and paths
Asemic. Obliquely scripting
A covert score of ectoplasmic lines

It is dumb, ever-expanding
And compassionate
